The Taliban is expected to unveil its government on Friday, according to the Pakistan Strategic Forum, an Islamabad-based think tank. Reports have hinted at something on the pattern of neighbouring Iran where a supreme leader presides over an elected president. If that is the direction, Taliban chief Haibatullah Akhundzada could emerge the supreme leader. Mullah Baradar, the deputy leader, is likely to be in charge of day-to-day affairs.
