NSA Doval Meets Russian, Other Counterparts In St Petersburg: From Myanmar To Moscow

National Security Adviser Ajit Doval on April 24 met his Russian counterpart Nikolai Patrushev for a second time this month. This was on the sidelines of the XII International Meeting of High Ranking Officials Responsible for Security Matters. The meetings took place in St. Petersburg, Russia. Doval’s Message Against Terrorism

At a lunch meeting of the BRICS(Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa+Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates) group NSAs, the Indian Embassy said, NSA Doval called for closer cooperation in the fight against terrorism and concrete action to prevent transborder planning, funding and execution of terrorist acts. On the St Petersburg visit, Russian and Chinese press releases make it clear that China’s top security official Chen Wenqing was part of the meetings. He heads the Communist Party’s Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission and holds a seat on the Communist Party’s 24-member Politburo.

Significantly, he was on a nine-day trip to Russia. In any case, Chen also had a bilateral meeting with Patrushev. Earlier, Russia’s Security Council issued a statement.
