Michelle Obama Should Replace Biden As Presidential Candidate: Poll

Former First Lady Michelle Obama should replace President Biden as the presidential candidate, says a recent poll of Democrats.

President Biden should be replaced by a new Democrat candidate. A recent poll suggested that nearly half of Democrat voters want the president replaced by another candidate. A recent poll conducted of 960 Democrat voters found that 48% of them wanted the president to be replaced by another candidate.

When asked for their preferred Democratic presidential candidate, Michelle Obama received the highest approval ratings. According to the poll, the former First Lady received 15%, while her nearest rival, vice-president Kamala Harris received 10%

The findings come as Arab-Americans dealt out a warning to President Biden on Tuesday in the Democrat primary on Tuesday in Michigan. Though Biden won the primary easily, Reuters reported that the number of “uncommitted” voters rose to 40,000. This is far above the figure of 10,000 that Democrat party organisers had been hoping for.

Michigan is a key swing state and the large number of “uncommitted” voters reveals the rising protests against the Gaza war could cost the president in the general elections come November 5.

“I want to thank every Michigander who made their voice heard today. Exercising the right to vote and participating in our democracy is what makes America great,” Biden said on Tuesday. He made no mention of the war in Gaza.

Meanwhile, former president Donald Trump also coasted to victory in Michigan. He has defeated Republican candidate Nikki Haley in all the states that have voted so far. Haley’s key defeat was in South Carolina where she was formerly governor.

The AP called Trump’s victory, but Trump is already confident. “We win Michigan, we win the whole thing,” he said in an NYT report.

Michigan is a key barometer as it suggests how Americans are likely to vote before ‘Super Tuesday’ on March 5. This is when 15 states and one territory hold Republican nominating contests. Trump is the overwhelming favourite to lock in the Republican nomination as Biden is for the Democrats so far.

Biden received overwhelming success on ‘Super Tuesday’ in 2020 but Michigan suggests he may not receive the same level of success now.
