London police have arrested a 13-year-old on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed two other teenagers at Kingsbury High School in Brent, northwest London, on Tuesday.

The victims, both boys aged 12 and 13, were taken to hospital and remain in serious condition, authorities said.

Counter-Terrorism Unit Leads Investigation

Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams of the Metropolitan Police confirmed that officers from Counter Terrorism Policing London are leading the probe.

“At this very early stage, we are keeping an open mind as to any motivation behind this attack,” Williams said. “However, due to the surrounding circumstances, the investigation is now being led by officers from Counter Terrorism Policing London.”

He added that the incident has not been officially declared a terrorist act.

Government Focus on Youth Knife Crime

The attack comes as the British government continues efforts to address rising youth knife crime. In 2024, teenager Axel Rudakubana attacked a Taylor Swift-themed children’s dance in Southport, killing three girls and injuring 10 others.

Authorities are working to gather evidence and fully understand the circumstances surrounding Tuesday’s school stabbing.
