Ahead of the arrival of large groups of Indian pilgrims, India’s Ambassador to China, Vikram Doraiswami, personally undertook the sacred Parikrama around Mount Kailash.
The ambassador and his team travelled to the region to inspect facilities, review logistical arrangements and ensure that preparations were in place for the thousands of devotees expected to undertake one of the world’s most demanding and spiritually significant pilgrimages.
‘Journey of a Lifetime’
After completing the Parikrama, Doraiswami shared a detailed video message from Tibet, describing the pilgrimage as a “journey of a lifetime” and offering practical guidance to those preparing to undertake the yatra.
Reflecting on the experience, he said pilgrims would be rewarded with an unforgettable sight when they first see Mount Kailash towering above the Tibetan landscape. He described the mountain and nearby Lake Manasarovar as among the most breathtaking places he had ever visited.
Preparations Underway for Pilgrim Arrivals
The ambassador’s visit comes as authorities prepare for the return of large numbers of Indian pilgrims following the lengthy suspension of the yatra.
The pilgrimage, regarded as one of the holiest journeys in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Bon traditions, attracts devotees from across India who travel to Tibet to complete the sacred circuit around Mount Kailash and visit Lake Manasarovar.
With the route now reopened, officials are focused on ensuring smooth arrangements and adequate facilities for pilgrims undertaking the challenging high-altitude journey.
