Pak Ex-PM Imran Khan To be Indicted In Contempt Case

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will indict PTI chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan in contempt of court proceedings for passing controversial remarks against an additional district and sessions judge. A five-judge bench presided by Chief Justice Athar Minallah issued the verdict after calling Imran’s response “unsatisfactory”. Dawn reported that charges against the former prime minister will be framed on September 22. The court had initiated contempt proceedings against Imran over his remarks against the judge Zeba Chaudhry, who had approved PTI leader Shahbaz Gill’s physical remand in a sedition case. Imran made the remarks at a public rally in Islamabad last month. On Wednesday, the former premier submitted a second reply to the court but the chief justice observed that his replies to the court’s show-cause notice appeared to be “justifying” contempt of the judiciary and showed “no remorse or regret”.
