Trump’s Legal Delaying Tactics Dealt A Blow As He Lashes Out At Judge’s Family

Donald Trump is facing trouble for attacking the families of judges. The former president attacked the daughter of Judge Juan Merchan in a Truth Social post. Identifying the daughter by name Trump said that she “is a rabid Trump hater.”  Judge Merchan is overseeing the Stormy Daniels case where the former president by making payments to her as “hush money” to cover up the face they had an affair. According to prosecutors, this is a concerted legal strategy by Trump to intimidate judges who are not giving him an extension to delay the trial.

Trump is accused of violating a gag order which had forbidden him from attacking judges’ families.

Trump is facing 91 criminal charges on four indictments,             which relates to his attempt to overthrow the 2020 election and more than three dozen other charges over his hoarding of classified documents in Florida.  These are not all Trump had recently posted a bond of $175 million in a New York appeals court. The bond had related to a case where the former president had directed deputies to change the value of his properties. The charges are believed to have left him short of money for his campaign. According to the Huffington Post, Biden in March had $155 million in campaign to Trump’s $42 million. The president also recently brought in former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton to campaign for him at a recent event on March 28 which netted $26 million: a campaign record.

Trump has recently hit back by selling Bibles and taking the social media platform which he primarily owns: Truth Social, public. According to Bloomberg Trump and the Republican National Committee jointly raised $65.6 million in  March and $93.1 million in cash on hand cutting into Biden’s lead. According to election observers, large campaign funds are needed especially in the last legs of an election.

Despite his legal troubles, Trump and Biden remain neck and neck in the polls. According to a Wall Street Journal poll, Trump leads Biden in six out of seven swing states. The former president is leading in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and North Carolina. However, Biden is leading Trump by three points in Wisconsin.
