“LAC Visits Of Senior PLA Officers Have Increased, Our Eyes Are Exactly Where They Need To Be”

Missamari, Assam: In our series, ‘Along The China Front: Commanding The Tawang Heights’, we spoke to Major General Charanjeev Manju, General Officer Commanding, 71 Infantry Division in Missamari in March 2023. On India’s deployments and locations along the LAC in Arunachal Pradesh, Gen Manju tells the StratNews team of Amitabh P. Revi and Rohit Pandita, “We are sitting on dominating places. We are sitting on the watershed. So we are able to see right across. We can see beyond the immediate and these days there are a lot of surveillance devices available.”
Watch this interview for more on Maj Gen Manju addressing questions on the change in infrastructure and force positions, the repulsed PLA Yangtse incursion attempt on December 9, 2022, the Bum La border personnel meetings, increased Chinese senior officer visits to the LAC, the sharpening of technology and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, the change in standard operating procedures after Galwan, interoperability between the Indian Army, Air Force, ITBP and SSB, Atmanirbhar Bharat, digitisation, the civil-military relationship, border villages and why road and infrastructural connectivity is “a major force multiplier”.
