U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that American military ships and aircraft would remain positioned around Iran and warned that the United States could resume military action if Tehran fails to fully comply with the agreement reached with Washington.

“All U.S. Ships, Aircraft, and Military Personnel, with additional Ammunition, Weaponry … will remain in place in, and around, Iran, until such time as the REAL AGREEMENT reached is fully complied with,” Trump said on his Truth Social platform.

“If for any reason it is not, which is highly unlikely, then the ‘Shootin’ Starts’, bigger, and better, and stronger than anyone has ever seen before,” he added.

Tensions Over Peace Talks

Earlier on Wednesday, Iran said it would be “unreasonable” to proceed with talks on a permanent peace agreement with the United States following Israel’s heaviest strikes yet on Lebanon, which killed hundreds of people.

The two sides also appeared far apart on Iran’s nuclear programme. Trump said Iran had agreed to stop enriching uranium, while Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammed Bager Qalibaf said enrichment would be allowed under the terms of the ceasefire.

Nuclear and Shipping Commitments

“It was agreed, a long time ago, and despite all of the fake rhetoric to the contrary — NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS and, the Strait of Hormuz WILL BE OPEN & SAFE,” Trump said in a later post on Wednesday.
