U.S President Donald Trump said China and the United States are working closely together, adding that Beijing supports his efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

In a post on Truth Social on Wednesday, Trump said China was “very happy” with his move to keep the key waterway open.

Strait Move Framed as Global Effort

“China is very happy that I am permanently opening the Strait of Hormuz. I am doing it for them, also and the world. This situation will never happen again,” Trump said.

The Strait of Hormuz is a vital global energy route through which a significant share of the world’s oil supplies passes.

Trump also said China had agreed not to send weapons to Iran.

“They have agreed not to send weapons to Iran,” he said.

‘Xi Will Give Me a Big Hug’

Referring to his expected visit to Beijing, Trump added: “President Xi will give me a big, fat, hug when I get there in a few weeks.

He said the two countries were “working together smartly, and very well”.

Warning on Military Strength

Trump contrasted cooperation with the option of conflict, writing: “Doesn’t that beat fighting??? But remember, we are very good at fighting, if we have to far better than anyone else!!!”
