The latest Taliban decree bans barbers in Lashkar Gah from shaving beards, apparently because it is un-Islamic to be clean shaven. Among other bans are kite flying since it distracted youth from religious duties, no broadcast of the IPL being held in the UAE, women and girls cannot take part in sporting activities and Kandahar has banned music and women’s voices from radio and television channels.
