India’s premier defence research body, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), is preparing for some drastic changes. In January a nine-member committee formed by the PMO gave a report on structural and functional changes DRDO needs to undertake. The idea was to make the organisation leaner, meaner and in sync with the modern-day requirements of the military. But the PMO insisted that changes need to take place, after which DRDO formed an internal overseeing panel led by chairman Dr Samir Kamat. It also has two senior directors general as members.
