NEW DELHI: On ‘The Gist‘, Professor Bates Gill, Editor and Principal Investigator for the National Bureau of Asian Research(NBR) project ‘Meeting China’s Military Challenges: Collective Responses of U.S. Allies And Security Partners’ and Professor of Asia-Pacific Security Studies and Head of the Department of Security Studies and Criminology at Macquarie University in Sydney in discussion with StratNews Global Associate Editor Amitabh P. Professor Gill discusses the NBR report by leading regional experts from Australia, India, Japan, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Vietnam, bilateral, trilateral, multilateral and plurilateral partnerships to counterbalance and deter China, the Quad, AUKUS, building up war-fighting and grey-zone tactics to counter China, the divergences and convergences in U.S. coalition building in the Indo-Pacific or the Asia-Pacific region, China’s salami-slicing along the Line of Actual Control(LAC) with India that risks deadly confrontation, the Galwan clashes and dissuading and defending Taiwan from China’s strategy of forced or coercive reunification.
