In a strong retaliation to Pakistan‘s recent drone attacks along India‘s western front, the Indian Air Force has conducted precision airstrikes on key Pakistan Air Force installations.
The targeted sites included bases at Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, and Rahim Yar Khan. Additionally, strikes were carried out on military facilities in Sukkur and Chunia, a radar installation in Pasrur, and the aviation base at Sialkot.
During a high-level government briefing alongside Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh condemned Pakistan’s continued hostilities.
Pakistan Continues Attacks
She reported that Pakistan deployed unmanned combat aerial vehicles, long-range weaponry, loitering munitions, and fighter aircraft to strike both civilian zones and military infrastructure.
“The Indian armed forces successfully intercepted most of these threats,” she noted, while also confirming limited damage at IAF stations in Udhampur, Pathankot, Adampur, and Bhuj.
Calling Pakistan’s targeting of civilian areas—such as a medical centre and a school—“deplorable” and “cowardly,” Wing Commander Singh emphasised that India’s response was precise and restrained.
“The IAF’s retaliatory operations focused solely on confirmed military objectives—technical assets, command hubs, radar sites, and arms depots,” she stated.
All strikes were executed with precision-guided munitions to minimise collateral damage.
Pak Misinformation Campaign
She also highlighted Pakistan’s attempt to spread misinformation, including baseless claims about the destruction of India’s S-400 air defence system at Adampur, air bases at Suratgarh and Sirsa, the BrahMos installation at Nagrota, and an ammunition depot in Chandigarh.
“India firmly rejects these fabricated assertions,” Singh clarified.
Regarding continued hostilities along the Line of Control (LoC), she confirmed that Pakistan had intensified shelling in civilian areas. The Indian Armed Forces, she said, have responded in a “measured and effective” manner.
Pakistan Signals Further Escalation
She warned that Pakistan’s military build-up in forward positions signals an intention to escalate further.
“India’s armed forces remain fully alert and prepared. All provocations have been appropriately countered,” she affirmed, adding that India remains committed to avoiding escalation—provided Pakistan also chooses restraint.
To counter false narratives, Wing Commander Singh also presented time-stamped satellite imagery disproving Pakistani claims of attacks on Indian air bases.
BSF Hits Back
The Pakistani Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing on Border Security Force (BSF) posts located at the International Border in the Jammu sector, prompting the Indian armed personnel to respond on Friday.
The BSF said it responded in a ‘commensurate manner’ and caused widespread damage to posts and assets of Pakistan Rangers along the International Boundary.
BSF wrote on X, “On 09 May 2025, from about 2100 hrs, Pakistan opened fire on BSF posts in Jammu sector without any provocation.”
“BSF is responding in commensurate manner causing widespread damage to posts and assets of Pakistan Rangers along the International Boundary. Our resolve to protect India’s sovereignty is unshaken,” the X post said.
No casualties on the Indian side have been reported.
