12 Injured In Toronto Pub Shooting, Suspects At Large

Three suspects are currently at large after a mass shooting incident at a pub in Canada’s Toronto city on Friday left at least 12 people wounded.

The shooting at the Piper Arms pub near Scarborough town centre in eastern Toronto occurred at 22:39 pm on Friday local time (03:39 GMT), reported The Guardian.

Toronto Police posted on X: “12 injured, including 6 with gunshot wounds. No fatalities, injuries non-life-threatening.”

The police said the victims are aged between 20 and 50s.

A BCC report quoting officials said six people suffered bullet wounds and others were hurt by flying or broken glass. The injuries were not life-threatening, they said.

Police said all the suspects in the incident were male.

Police said they have deployed all available resources to locate and arrest those involved in the incident.

“The suspects walked into the bar. They produced their guns, and they opened fire indiscriminately on the people sitting inside the bar,” Supt Paul MacIntyre of Toronto’s organised crime enforcement branch was quoted as saying by The Guardian.

Paul MacIntyre said the motive behind the attack is still not known.

A motive “right now remains unclear and we’re chasing down all leads”, said Police Supt Paul MacIntyre, reported BBC.

Toronto Mayor Reacts

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow wrote on X: “I am deeply troubled to hear reports of a shooting at a pub in Scarborough. I have spoken to Chief Demkiw and he has assured me all necessary resources have been deployed.

“This is an early and ongoing investigation – police will provide further details. My thoughts are with the victims and their families.”
