World Leaders Congratulate Britain’s Incoming PM Keir Starmer

World leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi have congratulated Britain’s incoming Prime Minister Keir Starmer on his electoral victory.

Keir Starmer’s centre-left Labour Party won a huge majority in a parliamentary election. Starmer’s victory has ended 14 years of often tumultuous Conservative government rule.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak conceded defeat to opposition Labour Party in the national election on Friday.

Sunak congratulated Keir Starmer, the Labour Party leader, for his victory. “The Labour Party has won this general election and I have called Sir Keir Starmer to congratulate him on his victory.’’

Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi

In a post on X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, ” Heartiest congratulations and best wishes to @Keir_Starmer on the remarkable victory in the UK general elections.”

PM Modi said, ” I look forward to our positive and constructive collaboration to further strengthen the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in all areas, fostering mutual growth and prosperity.”

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated the Labour Party and Keir Starmer for winning the UK election, saying he is looking forward to working together on international peace and security.

“Ukraine and the United Kingdom have been and will continue to be reliable allies through thick and thin. We will continue to defend and advance our common values of life, freedom, and a rules-based international order,” Zelenskyy wrote on X.

He also thanked the outgoing Conservative Prime Minister Rishi Sunak for his steadfast support, saying “Ukraine will never forget” the shared achievements which included signing a bilateral security cooperation agreement.
