Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met Li Wentang, Vice President of the Central Party School (National Academy of Governance) of the Communist Party of China (CPC), during his visit to Beijing, as India and China continue efforts to broaden engagement beyond diplomatic and border-related issues.
According to a post on the official X account of the Embassy of India in China, Misri was briefed on the historical significance of the Central Party School, its intellectual contributions and academic programmes. The two sides also discussed opportunities for future cooperation and institutional exchanges.

The meeting comes amid a series of high-level interactions aimed at stabilising and improving bilateral ties following years of tensions after the 2020 border standoff.
Earlier during his visit, Misri held talks with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Hua Chunying, where both sides reviewed the full spectrum of India-China relations. They also explored ways to advance the understanding that India and China should view each other as partners in development, with discussions covering trade, economic cooperation and mutually beneficial outcomes.
According to the Embassy of India in China, the two officials also acknowledged the importance of maintaining peace and tranquillity along the India-China border, describing it as essential for the continued development of bilateral relations.
Misri also met Hong Liang, Deputy Secretary-General of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), where discussions focused on expanding political dialogue and strengthening people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. India’s Ambassador to China, Vikram Doraiswami, was also present during the meeting.
The Foreign Secretary’s engagements in Beijing reflect ongoing diplomatic efforts by both countries to rebuild trust and deepen communication across multiple sectors, including diplomacy, trade, education and institutional cooperation, while managing differences through sustained dialogue.
