India and China reviewed the full spectrum of their bilateral relationship during high-level talks in Beijing on Monday, with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri meeting Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Hua Chunying to discuss trade, people-to-people exchanges and border stability.
According to the Embassy of India in China, the two sides explored ways to advance the shared understanding that India and China should view each other as partners and opportunities for development, while working towards mutually beneficial outcomes in trade and economic cooperation.
Focus on Trade and Bilateral Cooperation
The discussions covered the entire range of India-China relations, with both sides examining avenues to strengthen economic engagement and expand practical cooperation.
The officials also reviewed ways to translate the vision of a stable and constructive relationship into tangible progress across key sectors.
Border Peace Remains a Priority
Both sides acknowledged the importance of maintaining peace and tranquillity along the India-China border, describing stability in the border areas as essential for the continued development of bilateral ties.
Political and People-to-People Exchanges
Earlier in the day, Misri met Hong Liang, Deputy Secretary General of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
The meeting focused on strengthening political dialogue and expanding people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, according to the Indian Embassy.
India’s Ambassador to China, Vikram Doraiswami, was also present during the discussions.
