If You Are An Orphan Or Poor, China Has Something For You

China

China will distribute a one-time allowance to its most disadvantaged citizens ahead of the country’s national holiday next week, according to a government statement released on Wednesday. The exact amount of the cash handout has not been disclosed, but it will benefit extremely poor individuals, orphans, and those facing significant difficulties.

Support for the Most Vulnerable

The allowances are set to be paid out before October 1, marking the beginning of China’s week-long public holiday celebrating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The government emphasised the importance of timely distribution, urging regional civil affairs and finance departments to ensure the initiative reaches those in need. The move was described as a demonstration of the Chinese Communist Party and government’s concern for the welfare of vulnerable groups.

Employment and Economic Measures

In addition to this one-time allowance, China’s cabinet issued new guidelines on Wednesday focused on promoting high-quality and sufficient employment. The guidelines prioritise improving employment opportunities and ensuring reasonable salary growth. This comes in response to growing concerns over rising youth unemployment and significant wage cuts across various sectors.

These measures follow a series of aggressive steps taken by the Chinese government this week to support the world’s second-largest economy, which has been grappling with economic challenges, including slow growth and joblessness among younger populations.
