Chinese Premier Li Qiang arrived in Moscow on Tuesday to co-chair the 29th regular meeting between the Chinese and Russian heads of government. His visit, at the invitation of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, underscores the deepening ties between the two nations. During his stay, Premier Li is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Mishustin, focusing on bilateral relations, practical cooperation, and key issues of mutual interest.

75 Years of Diplomatic Ties

This year’s meeting holds special significance as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Russia, as well as the launch of the China-Russia Years of Culture. The annual meetings between the Chinese and Russian heads of government, which began in 1996, have been a critical platform for implementing the agreements made by the two heads of state and for advancing cooperation in various sectors.

A Model for International Relations

In a statement released upon his arrival, Premier Li highlighted the resilience and strength of China-Russia relations over the past 75 years. He noted that the relationship between the two countries has withstood the test of time and changing international dynamics, growing stronger with each passing year. “Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China and Russia set a model for a new type of international relations and relations between neighbouring major countries,” Li said.
