NEW DELHI: India moved a step closer to getting 5G services with the auction of 5G spectrum. If all goes well, 5G services will be launched by the end of the year, propelling this country into the same or similar league comprising 5G nations.
In this conversation on The Gist, Jaijit Bhattacharya, tech entrepreneur and president of the Centre for Digital Economy Policy Research, breaks down the import of the auction, from the revenue angle to the key players and the spectrum itself. He notes that 5G will also boost the BharatNet programme which envisages connecting rural India to the internet.
initially 5G services maybe limited to industry, with even the private sector being allowed to build its own networks to enhance manufacturing and productivity. But there’s a whole new world out there waiting for 5G to propel them into the future.
Tune in for more in this conversation with Jaijit Bhattacharya.
