Not Just Fighter Jets, India Needs To Bolster Combat Support Systems

NEW DELHI: Fighter jets make up just a part of any country’s air combat fleet. They need to be adequately supported by support systems. India’s fighter jet strength is depleting fast and replenishments will take time as the procurement cycle is lengthy. But India needs to shore up the support systems, three things in particular: Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) platforms, airborne early warning systems and mid-air refuellers, as StratNews Global Editor-in-Chief Nitin A.
