Germany has recorded more than 65,000 new Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours. The last big spike was 60,000 seen when the pandemic hit. Chancellor Merkel is readying to meet all 16 state premiers (chief ministers) to discuss nationwide measures to ensure infections remain under control.
