France’s Police Security Measures

France is mulling tougher measures against those who attack the police. The plan comes in the wake of the killing of a policeman in an apparent drug-related incident. The issue has become a hot button political one with police unions intent on holding demonstrations next week. They are being joined by common people, a point which has rattled the government.

Prime Minister Castex has promised $12 million to improve security in police stations after the killing of a police administrative official inside a police station last month. Islamic extremists have been blamed for the attack.
