Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will run again for office in the upcoming elections next month. Accompanied by his supporters, he visited a registration centre at the interior ministry and filled necessary forms.

Of late, Ahmadinejad has tried hard to shed his hardline image, instead trying to take a centrist position. Barred from running for the presidency in 2017 by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, he had registered but was disqualified by a constitutional watchdog.

President Hassan Rouhani, who has had two back to back stints cannot run this time due to term limits.
