“Ukraine Conflict Dominant” In Talks: India Supports “Any Initiative That De-risks Global Economy”

Suchkov, Director, Institute for International Studies as well as Advanced American Studies and Associate Professor at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) University in conversation with StratNews Global Associate Editor Amitabh P. Dr Suchkov discusses External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr S. Jaishankar’s meetings in Moscow with his counterpart Sergey Lavrov and Russia’s Vice Prime Minister-Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, the EAM saying “the Ukraine conflict was a dominant feature. Insofar as specific initiatives pertaining to issues like food grains and fertilizer shipments are concerned, or any other problem for that matter, India will be as helpful as we can be. Indeed, I would say that for any initiative that de-risks the global economy and stabilizes the global order at this stage; India will be supportive”, PM Modi telling President Putin that “this is not the era for war” on the sidelines of the SCO Summit, the current situation in the Russia-Ukraine war, fears of a nuclear escalation, with winter setting in how united the West is in its support for Ukraine, the plan for a price cap on Russian oil, Russian oil becoming India’s largest import in its basket, Russia’s defence supplies including the S-400s, India in the Quad and the Russia-China “no-limit” partnership
