NEW DELHI: With the sacking of three senior officers, including a Lieutenant General, and action being taken against more officers for the May 9 violence that saw military installations being vandalized, Pakistan’s Army Chief Gen. Asim Munir has reasserted his authority. Action against senior army officers is proportionate to the gravity of the events that showed the army’s command and control structure in very poor light, says Ramanathan Kumar, former Special Secretary, Research & Analysis Wing (R&AW). The signs are also quite ominous for former Prime Minister Imran Khan (whose arrest was the trigger for his supporters going on the rampage last month), Kumar told StratNews Global Editor-in-Chief Nitin A. Gokhale on ‘The Gist’. Tune in for more.
