China’s Future Lies In the Past?

New Delhi: The other day China blamed India for the Galwan valley clash of last year, accusing Delhi of violating “all signed agreements”. This, when India has been saying all of last year that China had provoked the clash, killing 20 of our army personnel and thereby torn up all agreements on keeping the boundary peaceful.

Why China did this is still not clear but on the Oct 1 anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic, it’s another opportunity or excuse to try and understand Beijing’s compulsions. On The Gist, Lt. Gen. Rakesh Sharma, former 14 Corps Commander and currently a strategic analyst at the VIF, provides background and context.
