Why C-295 Project Is A Game Changer For Self-Reliance In Defence

NEW DELHI: It’s a major step towards atmanirbharta in defence under which a private sector entity would make military aircraft in India for the first time. According to the ₹22,000 crore deal, Airbus will deliver the first 16 C-295 transport aircraft for the Indian Air Force in ‘fly-away’ condition from Spain within four years. The next 40 planes would be made at a facility in Vadodara by its Indian partner Tata Advanced Systems Ltd over the next 10 years.
