Mr Kharisma discusses several high-level visits to Indonesia, including those of India’s Deputy National Security Advisor(NSA) Ambassador Pankaj Saran, Secretary of Russia’s Security Council Nikolay Patrushev and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken who criticised “Beijing’s aggressive actions” against its neighbours and reiterated Washington’s commitment to an Indo-Pacific region “free from coercion and accessible to all”. He also analyses Indonesia-India defence relations, Jakarta’s reported interest in the Brahmos supersonic cruise missile, the Sabang deep-sea port being developed by India, connectivity between Indonesia and India, the Aceh-Andaman and Sumatra connection, the Indonesia-India-Australia trilateral, U.S. pledges for infrastructure projects, China’s aggressive behaviour, balancing great power competition and ASEAN centrality.
