Tucker Carlson’s Putin Interview Airs Today On X?

Russian President Vladimir Putin has not given any such interview since the Ukraine war

President Vladimir Putin will draw global eyeballs as his interview to Tucker Carlson will go up later today on X. He is the first major American media personality to interview the Russian leader and as he tweeted:

“We’re here to interview the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin. We’ll be doing that soon,” Carlson said in the video. “There are risks to conducting an interview like this, obviously. So we’ve thought about it carefully over many months. Two years into a war that is reshaping the entire world, most Americans are not informed. Most Americans have no idea why Putin invaded Ukraine or what his goals are now,” he said. “We are not here because we love Vladimir Putin…We are not encouraging you to agree with what Putin may say in this interview, but we are urging you to watch it. You should know as much as you can.”

Considered a right-wing media personality in the US, Carlson’s visit to Russia has attracted much criticism from domestic media, some accusing him of serving as a propaganda tool for Putin. Russian media in contrast have feted him as a celebrity “who speaks the truth.”

Carlson has hit back, faulting US media outlets for continuous interviews with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky which he described as “fawning.” He has also accused the Biden administration of “spying” on his text messages and leaking them to the media in order to prevent him from interviewing Putin three years ago. He also said he was “pretty certain” that they did the same thing last month, but he decided to go to Moscow anyway.

The timing is crucial. Carlson’s interview comes at a time when President Joe Biden is looking to Congress to renew US funding for Ukraine. The “clock is ticking” for Ukraine, Biden said.

According to AFP Putin is believed to have told Carlson that President Joe Biden is not running the United States.

“The same forces which have always run it. You may change presidents, but you do not change those in real power. That is who we have to deal with. Joe Biden is just a facade for this power structure,” he told Carlson.
