Japan has expressed its concerns to China regarding the recent military drills conducted around Taiwan, Japanese Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Kazuhiko Aoki announced during a press conference on Tuesday. The drills, carried out by China on Monday, have raised alarm in the region, with Japan closely monitoring the situation.

Japan’s Position On China’s Actions

Aoki stated that the Japanese government is observing developments with “grave interest” and has formally communicated its concerns to China. “We are aware China carried out military drills around Taiwan yesterday. The government is watching related developments with grave interest and has informed the Chinese side of our concerns,” Aoki said.

China’s Warning to Taiwan

China’s military drills come as a warning to Taiwan, which Beijing claims as part of its territory. On Monday, China’s defence ministry vowed to take further action against Taiwan if deemed necessary, continuing its hardline stance on the island. The drills are part of China’s ongoing efforts to assert its claim over Taiwan and demonstrate its military capabilities.
