India Is Now A Space Superpower, Says Russian Diplomat

Indians and foreigners from all walks of life thronged to the Russian center to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first Indian to go into space, Rakesh Sharma.

The event organised by the Russian mission, showed various still pictures of Sharma posing with his fellow Russian cosmonauts before and after the flight.

Speaking at the event, Russia’s Deputy Chief of Mission, Roman Babushkin, said that Moscow was proud to see India’s space programme develop through the decades to become a “space superpower.”

Congratulating India on the successful landing of the Chandrayaan-III on the moon, he said that Moscow was proud and pleased to train India’s four astronauts who will be making the country’s first manned flight into outer space in 2025.

Babushkin felt that it was fitting that these astronauts were conducting their training in the same place that Rakesh Sharma did 40 years ago.
