NEW DELHI: Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the resultant destabilization of the international economic order has hit India hard. Yet India continues to see Russia as a pole in the world order, chiefly because it is the one power that can check China’s rise in Asia. In this conversation on The Gist, Pankaj Saran, former deputy national security adviser and ambassador to Moscow, argues that Russia continues to provide certain technologies that are denied to India elsewhere, such as nuclear powered submarines. Russia is also opening the doors to JVs that involve the transfer of key technologies and expertise. But Ambassador Saran acknowledges that as India focuses on its development, it needs the West for finance, investment, technologies and skills. Tune in for more in this conversation with Pankaj Saran, former deputy national security adviser.
