China’s leaders “don’t understand the variety of different cultures,” said the Dalai Lama during a news conference anchored from Tokyo. He said there is too much control by the main Han ethnic group. He said he had no plans to meet China’s leader Xi Jinping although he would like to visit and see old friends. But as he was growing older, “I prefer to remain here in India peacefully.”
