Donald Trump will not choose Vivek Ramaswamy as his running mate, Bloomberg news reported.
The news report said that Trump personally informed Ramaswamy about his decision, but will offer him a position in the cabinet, if he wins.
Some members of the Republican party view Ramaswamy as the right man for the vice-president’s post because of his good oratory skills and his background as an Indian-American son of an immigrant. This they believe will help to attract votes from the immigrant community.
A running mate is simply a vice-presidential candidate who is chosen by the presidential candidate during a campaign. Voters vote for president and vice-president as a team.
Ramaswamy dropped out of the race against Trump after a fourth-spot in the Republican Iowa caucuses. The very next day he was spotted at a rally with Trump where he endorsed the candidature of the former president.
He was quoted by PTI as saying , “I looked at every which way, and I think it’s true that we did not achieve the surprise that we wanted to deliver tonight… As of this moment, we are going to suspend this presidential campaign. There is no path for me to be the next president.”
According to reports, Trump is looking for a person who would help him to get an edge over his opponent Joe Biden. Former Trump’s adviser Jason Miller told Bloomberg that it was too early to speculate on who will be part of the cabinet.
According to reports, Trump’s search for vice-president is being assisted by several of his top aides including son in law Jared Kushner who has recently increased his presence in the campaign.
Last month, the former president suggested that he had a list of dozen names on the list, which ranged from senator Tim Scott and Republican candidate Tulsi Gabbard.
