Vietnam Prime Minister On Three-Day State Visit To India

Vietnam PM Being welcomed

Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, arrived in India on a three-day State visit on Tuesday.

Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, welcomed the Vietnamese PM at the airport.

Nature Of Visit

PM Pham Minh Chinh is on a State visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

A high-level delegation, including several ministers, deputy ministers, and business leaders, is accompanying the Vietnamese PM.

MEA Explains The Objective Of The Visit

The Ministry of External Affairs  said that the visit of Vietnam PM will further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations.

MEA Official Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, extended a warm welcome to the Vietnamese Prime Minister.

He tweeted, “India & Vietnam share civilizational links and a longstanding friendship based on mutual trust.”

Elements Of The Visit

The Vietnamese Prime Minister will receive a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday morning.

He will then visit Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

Bilateral Discussions With Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Moreover, he will also hold bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

PM Modi will also host a luncheon in his honour.

A Call on President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Prime Minister Chinh is further scheduled to call on President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is also expected to call on the visiting Prime Minister of Vietnam.

India Was Represented At The State Funeral Of The Former President Of Vietnam

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval recently represented India at the state funeral of the former Vietnamese President, Nguyen Phu Trong.

The senior leader died at the age of 90.

Trong had held the position of General Secretary of the Communist Party since 2011.

He also served as the President of Vietnam from 2018 to 2021.

NSA And Defence Minister Paid Tribute To Nguyen Phu Trong 

The NSA conveyed India’s condolences personally to the President To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and bereaved family members.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the Vietnamese Embassy in New Delhi and paid tributes on behalf of the government and people of India.

He also signed the condolence book.

Strong Ties Between India And Vietnam

India and Vietnam have age-old historical and civilizational ties, which were elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership during PM Modi’s visit to Vietnam in September 2016

During his visit, Vietnamese PM Chinh will receive a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan on August 1, after which he will visit Raj Ghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

Adani Group is considering investing in Vietnam

Meanwhile, India’s Adani Group is considering investing in two airports in Vietnam, the Vietnamese government said on Wednesday.

The Adani Group had said some weeks back that it had permission to build a seaport in the country.

Statement By The Vietnam Government

The Vietnam government made this statement after a meeting in Delhi between Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Gautam Adani, head of conglomerate Adani Group.

“Adani is planning to strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese partners in the fields of aviation and logistics,” the statement said.

The statement did not mention the amount or the time frame of the investment.

Announcement By Gautam Adani’s Son

Last year, Karan Adani, Gautam Adani’s elder son, announced a plan to invest up to $3 billion.

Nature Of Investment

The Adani group intends investing in seaport and renewable energy projects in Vietnam.

Karan also said that the investment could reach $10 billion over the longer term.
