U.S. President Joe Biden on Sunday announced he had pardoned his son, Hunter Biden, breaking his previous commitment to let the judicial system handle the case.
Hunter had pleaded guilty to tax violations and was convicted on firearms charges, with sentencing pending.
The Democratic President’s pardon comes as Republican President-elect Donald Trump, who has pledged to go after his political opposition, prepares to take office on January. 20.
