Kamala Harris Goes After Donald Trump At Her First Campaign Rally In Wisconsin

Kamala Harris launched into Donald Trump at her first campaign rally as the presidential candidate. “I know Donald Trump’s type,” she said to a cheering crowd. “And in this campaign, I promise you, I will proudly put my record against his any day of the week.”

‘I KNOW DONALD TRUMP’S TYPE’

She highlighted her background as a public prosecutor, showcasing her experience in contrast with Trump, who, besides being a former President, is also a convicted felon. “And in those roles, I took on perpetrators of all kinds. Predators who abused women, fraudsters who ripped off consumers, cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain. So hear me when I say, I know Donald Trump’s type.”

2% LEAD OVER TRUMP IN OPINION POLL

The rally in Milwaukee in Wisconsin, coincidentally the same city where Donald Trump officially secured his nomination as the Republican Party’s Presidential candidate, came after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race. He endorsed Kamala Harris, who has since picked up the required number of delegates to secure the Democratic Party’s nomination and also marginally edged out Donald Trump in the Reuters/ Ipsos poll by 2 percentage points. Wisconsin is a key battleground state along with Pennsylvania and Michigan, also called Rust-belt states, which are crucial for any candidate if he or she wants to reach the White House.

“GOAL OF MY PRESIDENCY WILL BE…”

Biden’s dramatic exit came close on the heels of an assassination attempt on Donald Trump. It also came on the back of more Democrats who were worried Biden would not be able to beat Trump. The change at the top of the ticket for the Democrats has brought in new energy and Harris has promised a presidency of compassion over chaos. “What kind of country do we want to live in?,” Kamala Harris asked the crowd. “Do we want to live in a country of freedom, compassion and rule of law, or a country of chaos, fear and hate?” ‘No’, came back the emphatic reply from the crowd. Harris also said, “building up the middle class will be a defining goal of my presidency.”

HARRIS CAMPAIGNS RAISES $100 MILLION

From the time that Biden has stepped down, the Harris campaign has raised $100 million in campaign funds. As the country’s first female Vice-President of Asian and African American descent, she is on the cusp of history if she takes the campaign all the way to the White House. Her campaign also hopes the change in nomination will enthuse many voters who were disinterested with what looked like a rerun of the 2020 election with older candidates.
