In the wake of one of the deadliest air disasters in Bangladesh’s military history, India has stepped forward with swift humanitarian assistance. Following the crash of a Bangladesh Air Force F-7 fighter jet into Milestone School and College in Dhaka, the Indian government has announced the deployment of a specialized team of burn care experts to aid the treatment of the injured.

The accident, which occurred on Monday, has so far claimed 31 lives, with 165 others injured, of which 10 are in critical condition. Most of the casualties are reported to be schoolchildren, triggering grief and anger across the nation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences to the bereaved families. “We are shocked and saddened by the death of many people, especially young students, in the tragic plane crash in Dhaka. Our thoughts are with the affected families, and we pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. India stands in solidarity with Bangladesh and is ready to offer all possible assistance,” he wrote on social media.

The Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed that a team of Indian medical professionals—including doctors, nurses and specialists in burn injuries—will be dispatched to Dhaka. They will carry essential medical supplies and are expected to assist local hospitals in treatment. The team will also assess whether any patient requires advanced care in India. If necessary, further medical reinforcements may be sent in.

Technical Fault Blamed For Crash

Initial reports suggest that the crash was caused by a technical fault in the Chinese-made Chengdu F-7 BGI aircraft. The training jet had taken off at 1.06 pm and, just 24 minutes later, collided with the academic building, causing a massive fire and widespread destruction.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos and panic as rescue operations began immediately. The Bangladeshi government declared a National Day of Mourning, with flags at half-mast and prayers held across the country.

Public Outrage Mounts

In the aftermath of the crash, public anger has erupted against the interim Yunus administration. Protesters, including students and local residents, gathered near the crash site, demanding transparency and accountability. Demonstrations turned violent when security forces intervened, using tear gas and batons to disperse crowds.
