China And Indonesia Sign Multiple Cooperation Deals

Chine and Indonesia signed multiple cooperation deals on Saturday as the two countries are seeking increased partnerships in key areas.

Engagements In China

During his State visit to China, Prabowo is scheduled to attend a meeting between Indonesian officials and a number of top Chinese companies.

Investment Agreements

The Indonesia presidential office said investment agreements worth more than $10 billion will be signed.

During this visit, the two sides also jointly published a statement on “Promoting Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and Building a China-Indonesia Community with a Shared Future”.

Second Visit To China After Taking Office

Prabowo’s decision to accept Xi’s invitation to visit China for the second time this year confirms Jakarta’s continued commitment to their strategic ties.

Chinese President’s Assurance To His Indonesian Counterpart

Xi told Prabowo on Saturday that China was willing to cooperate with the new Indonesian government to the countries’ mutual benefit.

Xi told the Indonesian President in Beijing that China is willing to enhance exchanges and cooperation with Indonesia in several areas.

Areas Of Cooperation

These include poverty reduction, medicines, grain cultivation and the fisheries industry

The two countries should “firmly support each other in safeguarding core interests and major concerns,” CCTV reported, citing Xi as saying.

They should also enhance cooperation in the digital economy, advanced manufacturing and recycling, the report said.

“Under the current complicated global situation, Indonesia hopes to further strengthen all-round strategic coordination with China, and become a closer comprehensive strategic partner with China,” CCTV quoted Prabowo as saying.

He welcomed Chinese companies to invest in Indonesia, according to CCTV.

Visit To United States

He will then travel to Washington at the invitation of the outgoing President Joe Biden.

Visit To South America

In Peru, the former military general will participate in the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation annual meeting.

He will then fly to Brazil for a G20 summit.

Meeting With The British PM

On his way back to Jakarta, Prabowo is expected to meet British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in London.

This extensive tour reflects his commitment to strengthen Indonesia’s global presence, particularly through its relationships with eastern and western allies.

Indonesia Wants To Be An Active Player On The Global Stage

Speaking to the Press before departing, Prabowo emphasized Indonesia’s influence in bilateral and multilateral discussions.

“Many (countries) are looking forward to seeing Indonesia’s role and stance. It is an honor for us. We will maintain good ties with everyone,” he said

The Indonesian President is aiming to establish Indonesia as an active player on the global stage.
