NEW DELHI: On #TheGist, Vice Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, Chief of Personnel, Indian Navy in conversation with StratNews Global Associate Editor Amitabh P. Revi.
“We are taking steps for smooth integration of ‘Agniveers’ and “this excellent combination of youth and experience combined together will ensure the operational readiness of the fleets and our units are not compromised at all,” Vice Admiral Tripathi says, adding, “we as a Navy are very clear that the time has come to give equal opportunity for women to serve on board units. There are 29 women officers at sea. Some of them must be sailing in the high seas. Once the ‘Agniveers’ come, of course a certain percentage of them will be women. They should be able to get on board ships and do what their male counterparts are doing.”
