The Afghan Republic negotiating team headed by the Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation, Dr. Abdullah, has taken part in the Extended Troika meeting with Russia, the U.S., China, and Pakistan in Doha, Qatar. India’s Ambassador to Qatar, Dr. Deepak Mittal and J P Singh, Joint Secretary(Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran) have also separately been part of several meetings in Qatar. After the extended troika meeting, Dr Abdullah “called on the international community, especially the Troika meeting member states, to adopt serious measures to prevent Taliban attacks on cities, which have led to war crimes, widespread human rights abuses and humanitarian catastrophe. He also stressed the need to start meaningful and sincere negotiations to establish an immediate ceasefire and reach a political agreement.” Ambassador Ludin says countries “waiting to see if a Taliban victory materialises is not a responsible response,” since the Taliban “can’t unite the country” and a “state collapse will be a disaster” as that will draw “regional powers into a proxy war.” What are his potential solutions?
