NEW DELHI: Something’s not right in Sri Lanka’s handling of the East Container Terminal project, which India was to develop under a Memorandum of Cooperation(MoC) signed in 2019. Pressure from the port unions and ruling party politicians appears to have derailed it. Colombo has now offered India the West Container Terminal project, which does not even figure in the MoC. Delhi is annoyed and has demanded that the memorandum be implemented.
