Iran’s Uranium Enrichment At 60%: IAEA

The UN’s atomic watchdog, the IAEA, says Iran has enriched uranium “to a slightly higher purity than previously thought due to fluctuations in the technical process.” It also says the enrichment is consistent with the level of 60 per cent declared by Iran in April.

Iran is currently engaged in tense negotiations over its return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action or the nuclear deal signed in 2015, repudiated by former president Donald Trump, and now back in the reckoning with new President Joe Biden. The UN report suggests that if the talks fail, Iran will move forward with its nuclear weapons programme.
