NEW DELHI: Jaijit Bhattacharya of the Centre for Digital Economy Policy Research argues that the 2022 budget could be a game changer in terms of its focus on technology. Speaking to SNG, he says the government has sent a clear signal that it does not like cryptocurrencies but for now is holding back from a ban. Rather it would wait to see what shape the international debate on this issue takes.
The move to use state run Doordarshan as an education tool is as old as the hills but in the wake of the pandemic it is being given new impetus. Much will however depend on the quality of the content that is delivered. It goes without saying that children from government schools have suffered the most in the last two years.
The 5G spectrum auction will go ahead this year, and Bhattacharya argues that although India is a little behind parts of the world, nothing is lost. But further delay is not acceptable.
