NEW DELHI: StratNewsGlobal editor-in-chief Nitin Gokhale speaks to Alok Bansal, Director of India Foundation on the Supreme Court’s verdict on the government’s move to abrogate Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. In the interview, Bansal says the “historic” verdict has provided a legal sanctity to the government’s decision which now cannot be overturned. This decision now lays to rest the perception that Jammu and Kashmir had a special role because they signed an instrument of accession which no other princely state had signed. On the international front, Bansal believes that while some western organisations may continue to criticise the decision overall the Supreme Court verdict enhances the government’s standing internationally as it shows that what they did was correct.
