Bridging The Language Divide On The Indian Internet

NEW DELHI : With Bhashini, India has launched an audacious project to democratise its digital economy. This platform will collate the available technology to accelerate Internet access, both in text and voice, in local languages. At present, access to the internet is mostly in English, though only 10% Indians are proficient in it. Undoubtedly, it will be the vital steppingstone to onboard the next 500 million Indians onto the Internet and hence a potential game changer.
