NEW DELHI: This year saw an old war (Russia-Ukraine) drag on and the emergence of a new one (Israel vs Hamas). It was also about great power competition and some diplomatic effort by the United States to sort of stabilise its tumultuous relationship with rival China, with the two presidents meeting in person. All of these have a bearing on India. There have been positives too, such as the successful hosting of the G20 summit, PM Modi’s state visit to the United States and a tech collaboration with the Americans.
