Spike In Forced Disappearances In Balochistan

Rattled by the attacks on two security camps in Panjgur and Noshki in Balochistan by the Baloch Liberation Army earlier this month, the Pakistani deep state has resorted to vengeance. Clandestinely, of course. As many as 48 people have gone missing from different areas of Balochistan in 10 days. From labourers to intellectuals, nobody has been spared. The latest one to go missing is Hafeez Baloch, an M. Phil. student at Islamabad’s Quaid-i-Azam University. Last week, while he was teaching children at a local academy in his hometown Khuzdar, three masked gunmen came in a black vehicle and abducted him, his father claimed. Hafeez had come home on a vacation, according to his father. Protests have been held on campus but no word yet from his university.
